PARNASSUS TENTH GRADER IS ONE OF TWO STUDENTS TO
RECEIVE PERFECT SCORE ON NATIONAL GREEK EXAM
Maple Grove, MN,
June 5, 2017 – Pranav Rupireddy, a sophomore at Parnassus
Preparatory School in Maple Grove, has received a perfect score on the National
Greek Exam - Beginning Attic Greek. Pranav was one of only two students out of
the 858 who took the exam worldwide to score a perfect forty points.
The National Greek
Exam is administered by the American Classical League and tests students’
knowledge of ancient Greek grammar, vocabulary, geography and culture. Ten other
Parnassus’ students received awards on the National Greek Exam.
Greek is offered to students at Parnassus
through the University of Minnesota’s College in the Schools Program, which
gives high school students the
opportunity to experience college-level coursework and to earn college credits
from the university. Parnassus’ students begin their Greek coursework after
several years of Latin study, with students starting their classical language
studies as early as Kindergarten.
Pranav was presented
with his Perfect Score Purple Ribbon award at an awards ceremony last week at
the newly expanded Parnassus building. “The classical languages, Latin and
Greek, are a cornerstone of our liberal arts classical program connecting
students to ancient civilizations, to English and many other languages, to
logical and critical analysis, and to the sciences. We are delighted with the
fact that Pranav placed in the top 0.2% of test takers!” stated Constance Ford,
Friends of Education, and approved by the Minnesota Department of Education in
2009, Parnassus Preparatory School is the only licensed K-12 public charter
school in the Northwest metro area that offers the classical trivium, a proven
educational method that has delivered high academic performance results. The
school continues to accept applications at www.parnassusprep.com .
