Parnassus Hires Ford and Vetsch as School Leaders
Parnassus' Board is delighted to welcome Constance Ford and Randy Vetsch to the team as the Executive Director and Principal of the school respectively.
In her new role, Mrs. Ford will lead and implement the proven classical trivium academic program and pedagogy, will establish the culture of the school promoting academic excellence and high-expectations of students and staff. In addition, Mrs. Ford will be responsible for teachers’ professional development and training partnering with top performing national charter schools to provide additional training.
Mrs. Ford was one of the founders and later Administrator of Classical School, a classical K-8 Core Knowledge based charter school in Wisconsin.
“As the Executive Director of Parnassus, I am committed to advancing our school’s critical mission on behalf of all students. We set a rigorous standard for excellence at our school and we will ask our students to work beyond their potential to meet that standard,” stated Mrs. Ford.
Mrs. Ford was a pioneer as one of the founders of the first classical charter school in our neighboring state and one of the first charter schools in her region. Under her leadership, Classical School grew to full capacity, nearly 500 students in grades K-8 with a large waiting list in the hundreds each year since its inception in the 1990's. The school was identified as one of the top charter schools in WI based on student performance, low staff and student attrition levels, and high academics standards.
Mr. Vetsch was hired as the Principal at Parnassus. In his new role, Mr. Vetsch will be responsible for budgeting, safety and security, transportation, fundraising in addition to working side-by-side with Mrs. Ford on curriculum implementation, student performance and assessments, faculty development and evaluation, and volunteer program to name a few.
"I am looking forward to working with the staff, parents, and school Board of Parnassus Preparatory School in delivering the best education in the state to the students we serve," said Mr. Vetsch.
Mr. Vetsch brings nineteen years of teaching and administration experience, including eight years as the Principal at a private school in Wayzata. Mr. Vetsch has worked in public, private and charter schools. Some of Mr. Vetsch’s accomplishments have been leading a school to receive the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award, increasing enrollment and student achievement.
“Under Mrs. Ford and Mr. Vetsch’s direction, Parnassus is well on its way of accomplishing its vision of becoming the top performing school in the state and in the country. I have absolutely no doubt of it. I couldn’t be happier,” said Board Chair, Laura Bottenfield.
Mrs. Ford and Mr. Vetsch are diligently working on final tasks toward Parnassus’ opening date of August 22. Approved by the Minnesota Department of Education in 2009, Parnassus Preparatory School is the only licensed K- 12 public charter school in the Northwest metro area that offers the classical trivium, a proven educational method and theories that have delivered high academic performance results. Parnassus is currently enrolling K-6 and is scheduled to open in August. www.parnassusprep.com
